Villa Chiara

An Affordable Fantasy Come True

Villa Chiara is a classic Tuscan villa vacation rental. This place was love at first sight. A 19th century villa decorated with the taste of Martha Stewart before her K-Mart days, Villa Chiara is your next stop in affordable fantasy come true. We have represented this for some 4 years, perhaps more, and completely restored into an elegant and totally cozy rental with lots of room for 11 people.

The beautiful landscapes, the Tuscan cusine, well known all over the world contributing to the charm and relaxed atmosphere of a holiday in magical sorroundings steeped in history. Sums it nicely, no. Located outside of the small village of Cevoli (no restaurants, but shops, bank, post office etc and a supermarket 5 minutes away), Villa Chiara sits in the "Pisa Villa District" where the noble families from Pisa presided over large parcels of land and farm estates, built their villas as summer residences and generally had a good time eating food and drinking wine. It is gorgeuous inside, and the views over the countryside are what you seek when renting a villa for your family and friends.
In the immediate area there are several medieval towns to check out, like Cevoli adjacent to the villa, Lari (4 minute walk) with its magnificent castle, and many others. You can see some of this antiquity from your rental over the fabulous views.

Sports enthusiasts will be glad to know that the golf courses of Tirrenia, Castelfalfi and Forte dei Marmi, are within easy reach from Cevoli, as well as riding schools and tennis courts. If you like to jog while on vacation, head out the drive to some delightful and bucolic sites. Five kilometers away from Cevoli is the spa-town of Casciana Terme for thermal cures and beauty treatment. Local shopping is within walking distance and several excellent trattorie and restaurants are located nearby.

A Little on the Region
Cevoli is a small village with the essentials, but here you are not far from restaurants and such. There are two restaurants that we enjoyed often. One was in Fauglia (the only restaurant there) and the other was about 8-10 minutes away and was called Tremolete. It was run by Sergio and his family, all of whom were very welcoming. Just east and north of Pisa through the mountain is the intriguing walled city of Lucca. Although we are biased on such matters, and may be preaching to the choir, Lucca is arguably the best city in Tuscany. It is also the closest to most of our Lucca based rentals. There are loads of reasons this is a great place to visit (olive oil for example, lack of tourists another). To the benefit of you and the proud locals, Lucca has completely retained the original thick walls around the centro storico. As the wide walls lost their military importance, abruptly ended with the conquering Bonaparte in 1805, no match for his modern might, they became as they are today: a pedestrian only park that rings the city entirely providing a wonderful view of the countryside and city below. Lucca is a perfect place to spend a day, or when you have a little extra time between other touring, you can easily slug it in and never tire of its streets, alleys, sights and shops. It is a perfect place to walk around, the walls not withstanding (in fact for the walls we suggest renting a bike and seeing the city that way - on the walls and off). We fondly call it "Florence without the scooters, people or museums." But still enough great restaurants, piazze, cafes, gelati and upscale shopping to attract the discerning folk. Here is a quick guide to our favorite restaurants (also found in more detail on our recommended restaurants in Lucca page):
Da Giulio, on via Conce Piazza San Donato
La Buca, on via della Cervia
Osteria Baralla, on via Anfiteatro
Antico Cafe, on Piazzale Vittorio Emanuele
