Borgo Pieve

A Collection of Tuscan Farmhouses With Luxury Living

Borgo Pieve is a wonderful Tuscan farmhouse rental represented by a collection of five buildings: three of the houses are living quarters for you, a fourth is a communal area with dining room, kitchen and more (we will describe later), and the fifth house is where the owner lives. The lovely Amelia and her husband (sorry guys, she's taken). FYI - a "borgo " is an Italian term for "collection of farmhouses." We translate loosely.

Located on a hill off a paved road surrounded by vineyards and views, olive groves and cultivated hills, Borgo Pieve is stylish yet simple, with great views, a wonderful pool, and an affordable price for large groups. Break the price down per person and it is amazing. The pool has a shallow area, deep area with diving board, hydromassage and of course views. You can watch the kids swim, and they watch you drinking a wine. Great for summer vacations.

The Borgo can be rented as separate units for small groups or families (6 people), or altogether for one big happy experience (20 people). If you do not rent the whole property though, the common area and the pool is shared with ithers. And with the many amenities catered to large groups, this is a great option for large parties that don't want to work too much. Comes with daily maid service, and optional meals can be prepared. Just a few steps coming down from the parking lot. NOTE Large vans and buses may not be able to navigate the sharp turns and narrow country roads in the last 100 feet. Indivdual cars and vans for 7 - 9 are advised.

Perfect for: Large groups or family. Perfect for a yoga or wellness group. Smaller parties are also possible.

A Little on the Region
Ponte a Moriano is a decent sized village with a round up of your usual suspects - grocery shops, large supermarket, bars, pizzeria, restaurant, pastry shops, ice cream maker, bank, pharmacy and post office.

Although we are biased on such matters, and may be preaching to the choir, Lucca is arguably the best city in Tuscany. It is also the closest to most of our Lucca based rentals. There are loads of reasons this is a great place to visit (olive oil for example, lack of tourists another). To the benefit of you and the proud locals, Lucca has completely retained the original thick walls around the centro storico. As the wide walls lost their military importance, abruptly ended with the conquering Bonaparte in 1805, no match for his modern might, they became as they are today: a pedestrian only park that rings the city entirely providing a wonderful view of the countryside and city below. Lucca is a perfect place to spend a day, or when you have a little extra time between other touring, you can easily slug it in and never tire of its streets, alleys, sights and shops. It is a perfect place to walk around, the walls not withstanding (in fact for the walls we suggest renting a bike and seeing the city that way - on the walls and off). We fondly call it "Florence without the scooters, people or museums." But still enough great restaurants, piazze, cafes, gelati and upscale shopping to attract the discerning folk. Here is a quick guide to our favorite restaurants (also found in more detail on our recommended restaurants in Lucca page):
Da Giulio, on via Conce Piazza San Donato
La Buca, on via della Cervia
Osteria Baralla, on via Anfiteatro
Antico Cafe, on Piazzale Vittorio Emanuele
